You’ve just begun your journey to automate a process within your business, there are so many applications to choose from, but how can you pick between so many seemingly similar solutions?
Should you look at their current clients?
This is useful to determine if the company have experience in your market segment and may give some indication as to their ability to deliver a solution that can handle any nuances within your industry. For example, multi-national and currency invoices, or multi-site and multi-line invoices
Should you be looking for what systems they can integrate with?
Whether your company utilise SAP, Oracle or any other system at the core of your business, any company specialising in automating business processes should have no difficulty integrating with your system. This is not always true though, especially with Oracle, SAP and Microsoft, where any 3rd party solutions must go through vigorous testing before they can truly offer real time integration. But more on the benefits of this another day…
Should you look at how their current technology matches others in the industry?
It doesn’t take the most forward-thinking company to add features to their product after another company has announced their newest product. Perhaps the next point is the more important.
Should you be looking at how innovative the company is?
As we all know, innovation is the key to success. It would be wise to find out the company’s road map, how they invest in research and development, and if they have this information available at all. No one wants to be anything but first place and whoever creates innovative technology has more time to iron out the wrinkles and bring you the best product available on the market.
To conclude, knowing a company can work well in your segment and with your systems is always a benefit, however, any company worth it’s salt will have no issues with either and should in fact embrace the opportunity to help you with your project and to solve your problems. Forward thinking companies will be there to help before you even know you need it and will always be looking to improve the solution for your benefit.
